In the name of Allah, the Most
Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It is with profound gratitude to
Almighty Allah (SWT) that I present Volume 4, Issue 1 (July 2026) of the
Dundaye Journal of Hausa Studies. This publication marks the inauguration of a
new phase in the journal’s trajectory under my tenure as the Head of the
Department of Nigerian Languages.
The journal remains steadfast in
its commitment to advancing high-caliber scholarship across the domains of
Hausa language, literature, and culture. The current volume features fifteen
peer-reviewed papers, comprising five (5) articles in Hausa linguistics, six
(6) in literary studies, and four (4) in cultural studies. Each contribution
has undergone a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, reflecting
contemporary empirical research, critical inquiry, and academic rigor aimed at
expanding the frontiers of Hausa Studies and affiliated disciplines.
Building upon the robust
foundation established by our predecessors, the current editorial team
reaffirms its dedication to elevating the journal's scholarly quality,
visibility, and global reach. Key strategic priorities include optimizing our
digital infrastructure through the systematic assignment of Crossref Digital
Object Identifiers (DOIs), refining editorial workflows, and adhering strictly
to international publishing standards. Through these measures, we aim to secure
indexing in prestigious repositories and databases, including the Directory of
Open Access Journals (DOAJ), African Journals Online (AJOL), and ultimately,
Scopus and other primary citation indexes.
These institutional enhancements
will firmly establish the journal as a leading global locus for innovative and
interdisciplinary research encompassing Hausa language, literature, culture,
translation, and related fields.
I express my sincere appreciation
to the Editorial Board, peer reviewers, advisory consultants, and
administrative staff, whose unwavering diligence and professionalism were
instrumental in bringing this volume to fruition. I extend equal gratitude to
our contributing authors for selecting this venue to disseminate their
scholarly work.
Finally, I gratefully acknowledge
the continuous support of the University Management and key institutional
stakeholders, whose patronage remains vital to the academic stature and growth
of both the Department and the Journal.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) bless
our collective endeavours, grant success to this volume, and continue to guide
the Dundaye Journal of Hausa Studies toward sustainable academic excellence.
